After my back operation, family life is slowly starting to get back to normal. The thing I have missed most is not being able to get out and about for our lovely family walks, and explores. So this weekend I got a little taste of normal life, and boy I cannot wait for a lovely big family walk.

So for a little walk we headed off to Hill Head, somewhere we have visited regularly however my friend showed me a different car park!  Oh the excitement in life!! Monks Hill Car Park, Salterns Rd, Lee-on-the-Solent PO13 9NJ

So we headed off and parked in this car park, it’s free and easy access to path ways.

If you were to park up, face the sea and take the path to the right. Then you can walk along and find a little park, a green open field and a sailing club. These paths are perfect for kids riding their bikes, with flat paths and a reward of a park to play in. Often on warmer days is an ice cream van too.

Path is at the end of these beach huts, and the start of the car park.

However we have often done that park, so we went left this time. The kids had a play on the beach, stone throwing, jumping down the hill and you can walk the dog here too.

The kids loved watching the planes taking off too. They fly right over your head, as the airfield  is across the road. They’ve seen them from further down the beach taking off, but not right underneath. The planes pulling the gliders were pretty interesting for them to see so close.

Also right by the car park is a little hut called The Shack. It serves hot and cold food, ice creams, hot and cold drinks. So we picked up some little plates of chips each, small ones for 80p and larger £1. They were pretty tasty chips too. They offer quite a few things to eat too, and very good prices. Kids love being able to eat outside too.

If you follow this path all the way up you will arrive at Lee-On-Solent park. It’s a great big park, and my kids love this park. However it was a little far for me to walk this weekend, I will save that one for another day!

  1. I hope you are feeling much better now. Seaside walks are one of the things I miss about living near the seaside. I love taking a walk in the sea air, so calming.

  2. I love a British beach in the colder weather – no need to attempt swimsuits, and a bracing walk (hopefully followed by a hot doughnut if we’re lucky)! Looks beautiful. Hope you can get out more very soon.

  3. Aww beautiful photos – it looks like you’ve had such a fun time, my daughter also loves throwing stones into the sea 🙂

  4. We love Autumn/Winter beach days like this so long as there are blue skies and you’re wrapped up warm they are golden!

  5. We love to go to the beach. It can be a great day out even in cooler weather as it’s not just about getting into the sea. My kids would love to go visit the shack they do love chips.

  6. A bit of insider knowledge is great, especially when it finds something new to make life easier. Glad to hear you managed to get out and about

  7. Walking at the beach is really one of my happy pill. I have never seen before planes pulling as close like that. I hope you had your back recovery.

  8. Glad you managed to get out and enjoy a little family walk. Hill Head beach looks so pretty. My brother lives on Lee-on-Solent but I’ve never been to the beach there – will have to add a little extra time next time we visit him and make a detour! 🙂 #countrykids

  9. So pleased to hear your back is recovering and normal live beginning to take over. Hard to beat a little time near the sea in the UK and it looks a lovely visit here. Mine always think it is a treat to have ice cream or chips at the beach and wow to the planes flying so low. I love that photo of the girls looking up to watch.

Thank you for sharing with me on #CountryKids
