Having the school holidays is perfect time relax with the kids, no routine and to have fun. However as a Mum I am always aware I need to make sure I have everything ready for the new school term, and that everything fits!
School shoes to me are one of the most important things to spend money on. You can save money by purchasing supermarket uniform, getting 2nd hand pieces, but when it comes to school shoes I have never gone cheap. Children’s feet are so soft, growing all the time, and they spend hours in these shoes. You imagine wearing a pair of shoes for at least 7 hours a day, that were hard, uncomfortable and poorly fitting.
Well you won’t get that with Start-rite shoes, with 225 years of experience and expertise, Start-rite have created shoes with quality, durability, and stylish. We have been sent some new Start-rite shoes to try out, and put to the test for my twin girls.
As soon as the Start-rite school shoes arrived, you could tell that these were a perfect school shoe, they were fantastic quality, and super durable. Kids being kids they run, they drag their feet around, they climb and they have fun! You wouldn’t want them any other way, but of course you would love it if the shoes didn’t wear out so quickly by doing this. I am sure these shoes will last until your child grows out of them, even mine who take months and months to grow out of shoes!!
I was really impressed by the choice of styles. My girls are becoming much more aware of what they are wearing now, but I loved the fact that there was lots of styles on the website that you could pick from, and also lots included patent or leather options. If you’re worried about ordering shoes online for your child, then do take a look at their ‘How To Fit Children’s Shoes At Home‘ Guide. With 3 different options on how to do it, I love the sound of the ‘Click n Fit’. Being able to take a photo of your child’s foot on a print out, and uploading the photos to check the fitting.
The first Start-rite school shoe we picked was for Lily, the Princess Elza black patent shoe, with its scruff resistant toe protection to help protect the shoes with all their playing.
Lily loved these shoes, she is a super girly girl, it arrived with a cute little bow on the strap, but included is 2 additional charms which can be changed over easily.
She says they are really really comfy, and although both my twins have really narrow feet and usually struggle with some school shoes, but these fit really well.
The next pair of Start-rite school shoe we choose were for Sofia, she isn’t as girly as Lily but still loves a nice pair of shoes. One of our close friends is a 12yr old girl, who she looks up to very much. So when she spotted the Burford black patent shoe with laces, she loved them! Just like her 12yr old friend.
Although the challenge was set, she needed to learn how to tie her shoe laces over the summer holidays, if you follow my Instagram you will see she has already accomplished that! Amazing what a nice pair of shoes does isn’t it.
These are a harder style of shoe, but I can imagine once they have been worn a little bit they would soon soften up a lot. They’re really nice supportive pair of shoes. With her narrow feet, the laces are great for making the shoes very supportive. They can be pulled in tightly, and adjusted to fit well.
We are over the moon with these Start-rite school shoes, both are priced around the £46-£48 mark, but are really worth spending that money on a good pair of school shoes for them. They will last well, take their rough playing, and look after their feet too.
