Did you even know there was such a thing as electric blinds? I know I didn’t until an e-mail popped into my inbox! I knew just who would love an electric blind in their room…….my teenager!
Tyler loves a gadget, more gadgets the better! So when we installed this electric blind in his room he was more than happy with it. Another button to press, and something geeky!
Order Electric Blinds Blackout Blind
Order Electric Blinds have a large range of blinds to choose from, but we were trying out their Essentials Blackout Electric Blind range. I’m sure my teenager won’t need blackout blinds to sleep in but his bed is directly under the window and the sun rises in the front. So it’s pretty bright in there come morning. Also all of the fabrics offer thermal insulation so will help retain warmth in the colder months too.
Here is my sons bedroom with the light off (his computer light glowing blue!) but you can see the gap of light at the bottom which is a tiny amount of light coming in and everywhere else is dark. You can adjust the blind to sit nicely on the window sil. Perfect for cinema rooms, nursery, kids room or night shift workers.
I had 31 colour designs to choose from so you won’t struggle to find a colour that suits your colour scheme. The sizing even goes up to 200cm wide by 170cm drop, which would fit a lot of windows. We went for Magnetic Grey with a plain bottom. You are able to order free fabric samples so don’t panic if you’re not sure on the colour!
There are lots of options, so triple check your measurements!
Being a small room we don’t have much space for options of arranging of the furniture. So this means Tylers bed is next to the window, but that means they can stand up against the window space. So there are two problems with this and picking blinds. Electric Blinds have solved these for me.
There aren’t any! The electric blind range has no need for cords hanging down, this is 100% worth it in kids rooms. I know my son is now older, but his twin Sisters aren’t and they regularly stand up on his bed whilst playing in there. I feel happy knowing there isn’t any risk of cords.
If you want to shut a normal blind you would have to reach over and pull the cords down. No problems with the electric blind range. There is a handset provided in the price for you to have control over the blind. Perfect if you can’t get to the blind easily.
There are 3 options with the battery to control the blind. Single use battery pack uses x8 AA lithium batteries which makes the blind wire free. 3 pin plug but you would need a plug socket on the correct side and this would have wires hanging down. Then the option that we went for, the rechargeable battery option. Which holds x10 rechargeable NiMH batteries and contained in a tube which is hidden behind the blind.
Order Electric Blinds only use Somfy motors for all their blinds as they are the market leaders in window blind motorisation. I was impressed on how quiet the motor was, and how smooth the transition was. This is fitted inside the roller tube, and has a 28 revelations per minute, so quick operation to use.
The handset is super easy to use, up completely or down completely, with the option of the middle button to hold it down and have control on where you to stop the blind. Every motor they use operates on RTS technology which means you can use the same handsets and timers to control a variety of products within your home including roller blinds, wood venetian blinds and roman blinds. It also can be wall mounted
These are going to be more expensive than your normal blind, however prices start at £90 with everything included. Tylers electric blind measured width 116cm x drop 120cm and came in at £127.99 with the re-chargeable battery pack. I think for a fantastic quality item which is safe, made to order, blackout and easy to use I am very impressed. My husband could do with one of these for when he is on his night shift!
So to answer my question of the post…….
Yes I do think Electric Blinds Are Worth It – 100%
